The Dragonsreach “Hammer Challenge” painting contest!
During January 2005 I hosted an ‘Online’ painting contest.
Why? Well It
was simple, In January 2006 I achieved my Golden Jubilee.
So I started
this competition:
The Hammer Challenge of 2005 with the intent of having a larger version in 2006
As
I started off my painting career many, many moons ago with Historical figures, I thought that I’d challenge you all
to paint a Historical style figure. So in order to do this I had to select a company which was “Known” and had
a selection of figures, which would perhaps stir the imagination.
Having purchased a few of their figures over the last few years (I wonder where from?) I was pleased to see that Alan
& Michael Perry have launched their own company producing miniatures, so the range I have selected is the Border
Reivers.

These are 40mm figures depicting characters from the troubled Border region between England and Scotland in the 16th
& 17th centuries.
(The Elizabeth I – James I period)
I
was born and raised in this area, know some of the history of these turbulent times and am descended from one of the Border
Clans. Besides which I liked the figures, hence why they were chosen.
